The difference between Polar and Non-polar covalent bond are:
Polar covalent bond
- When a covalent bond is formed between the atoms of different electron pair is not equally shared by the two atoms. The bond thus formed is called polar covalent bond.

- The compounds containing polar covalent bonds exhibit ionic characteristics e.g. HCI, NH3, HF
Non-polar covalent bond
- When a covalent bond is formed between the atoms of the same elements, the bonding electrons are shared equally between the two atoms. The bond thus formed is a non-polar covalent bond.
- The compounds containing non-polar covalent bonds show no ionic characteristics e.g. H2, O2, CI2.
